The Spanish Society for Psychology of Violence (SEPV) is an independent academical organization, with its own juridical personality, established as a SOCIETY OF KNOWLEDGE for the study of violence and aggression from a psychological domain.

 The SEPV Society object of study is violence as a human complex behaviour, taking into consideration not only its nature and aetiology, but also its ways and levels of development, constitutional and correlational elements and causal chains. The SEPV Society will approach its objects of study placing the attentional focus on the individual and his/her interpersonal relationships, studying the diverse levels of expression of the aggressive and violent behaviour and the different facets of the individual shaping this expression, being actors, victims or contextual elements within the aggressive or violent behaviour.

Inscribed within the Science of Psychology as a referential framework, the SEPV Society has vocation of multidisciplinarity and is committed with the theoretical and practical diversity. In this line, from SEPV Society are spaces of preferential interest, though not exclusive, the Psychobiology and Psychoneurology, the Developmental Psychology, the Social Psy, the Psychopathology and Clinical Psy, the Behavioural Psy, the Cognitive Psy, the Forensic Psy and the Environmental Psy. The SEPV will pay attention, likewise, to Ethological models of behaviour should they applicable to human being.

The SEPV Society joints the scientific method as a way of approaching to the analysis of its objects of study. However, it claims its intention to conjugate the scientific perspective with contributions which, concerning their researching command and informative character and even lacking of certain qualities demanded to the Science, would complement and enrich it with innovative positions that will imply the opening of new ways to think and to experiment. The rigorous theoretical development is considered, from SEPV point of view, an element to be pursued and promoted.

SEPV Society wants to be a place of meeting for and communication between researchers and thinkers in the field of the Psychology of Violence and Aggression. In order to channel this will, the SEPV Society begins to walk in the world wide web offering a variety of sites, thought to combine the rigorous and exhaustive treatment of topics with the flexibility and scope tied to information exchange technologies.
